Abstract:

Diffuse normolipemic plane xanthoma is a rare disorder often seen as a para-neoplastic manifestation accompanied with gammopathies and hematologic disorders. In this report, a 44-year-old man is presented who was referred to us due to developing erythematous papules on the hands and yellow patches on different parts of the body. Based on cell blood count, peripheral blood smear and positive anti-HTLV1, the diagnosis of adult T cell lymphoma/leukemia was suggested which confirmed by the biopsy of the hand lesions. The histopathologic evaluation of yellow lesions also confirmed the diagnosis of diffuse xanthoma.

Successful Treatment of Diffuse Normolipemic Plane Xanthoma with Probucol

We report on a 70-year-old woman with diffuse normolipemic plane xanthoma (DNPX) who developed macular yellowish patches on the eyelids, both cheeks, and the nose. Histology revealed the accumulation of CD68-positive foam cells and Touton giant cells in the superficial dermis. Plasma lipid levels were within normal limits. The patient had no underlying hematological diseases. Her extensive lesi...

Diffuse normolipemic plane xanthoma associated with monoclonal gammopathy.

Diffuse normolipemic plane xanthoma (DNPX) was first described by Altman and Winkelmann in 1962. It is a rare and non-inherited form of xanthomatosis. Clinically, the dermatosis is characterized by the presence of symmetric yellowish-orange plaques that favor the neck, upper trunk, flexural folds and periorbital region. It has been recognized to be associated with hematological diseases, especi...

Diffuse plane Xanthomatosis: A case report

A 58-year-old man had 3 years history of asymptomatic, extensive, yellowish patches on his face, neck, trunk and arms. Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of diffuse plane xanthomatosis. This is a rare non-lipemic disease in which xanthomatous lesions develop in the skin in association with paraproteinemia. Serum lipids are usually normal. The histological features include bot...

Diffuse Normolipemic Plane Xanthoma (DNPX) of the Neck without Xanthelasma Palpebrum

Diffuse normolipemic plane xanthoma (DNPX) is an uncommon subtype of non-Langerhans histiocytosis. DNPX is characterised by xanthelasma palpebrarum, diffuse plane xanthoma of the head, neck, trunk, or extremities, and normal plasma lipid levels. The neck is the most common site. We report about a 62-year-old female Caucasian patient, who developed an asymptomatic fine wrinkling and loose skin o...
